01 Introduction

Osprey Charging provide all EV drivers with high-power charging in a convenient and thoughtfully placed network, across the UK. Their charging is fast, reliable and easy-to-use and they secure long-term partnerships with landlords and local authorities. They’re building the charging network for the future of transport, to benefit the next generation and our planet.

We were approached by Osprey Charging to develop a new website after initially overhauling their branding. Osprey wanted to have a modern website using a headless CMS and a tech-stack that matched their other internal systems and app.

02 The Project

After an initial consultation, Osprey Charging discussed their commitment to playing a vital role in the electrification of transport and their aims to create a healthier planet for current and future generations. The project aimed to deliver a visually appealing website with a seamless user experience that effectively communicated Osprey Charging’s mission and services. They also expressed the desire to move away from their previous website built in WordPress in favour of one that reflected their innovative future-focused approach. We considered different CMSs, but Prismic was selected based on its ease of use.

The primary objective of the project was to create a visually captivating website that would effectively communicate Osprey Charging’s role in the electrification of transport. The website needed to provide users with comprehensive information about Osprey Charging’s EV network, including charging locations, services, and initiatives.

Key objectives included:

  1. Create a visually appealing design that would captivate users and encourage engagement with the website’s content.
  2. Implement a robust content management system to enable easy updates and additions to website content.
  3. Develop a website with a user-friendly interface and intuitive navigation, ensuring a seamless browsing experience for visitors.
  4. Design and develop a website that is fully responsive across various devices and screen sizes.

The scope of the project included the following key features:

  1. Incorporate an interactive map displaying Osprey Charging’s EV charging locations, allowing users to easily find nearby stations and access detailed information.
  2. Provide detailed descriptions of Osprey Charging’s services, including charging solutions for home, work, and public locations.
  3. Highlight Osprey Charging’s commitment to sustainability through initiatives such as renewable energy sourcing and carbon offset programs.
  4. Include a blog section to share news, articles, and updates related to electric vehicles, clean energy, and Osprey Charging’s activities.
  5. Offer a user-friendly contact form and support section for users to reach out for inquiries or assistance.

The design and user experience aimed to reflect Osprey Charging’s commitment to sustainability while ensuring an engaging and intuitive interface. The website incorporated a clean and modern aesthetic, featuring visually appealing graphics and images of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. The navigation was designed to be straightforward, enabling users to easily explore different sections of the website and access the desired information. Emphasis was placed on creating a responsive design that provided a seamless browsing experience across desktop and mobile devices.

The website was built using VueJS, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to deliver a performant and responsive user interface. Prismic was integrated as the headless CMS, providing a structured content management system for Osprey Charging’s team to efficiently manage website content. Careful attention was given to optimise the website’s performance, including minimising file sizes, leveraging caching techniques, and optimising code structure. Responsive design principles were applied to ensure the website displayed seamlessly across various devices and screen sizes.

03 Conclusion

The collaborative efforts between Osprey Charging and AndAnotherDay resulted in the successful launch of a visually captivating and informative website. The website effectively communicated Osprey Charging’s mission and services, creating a compelling platform for users to explore their EV network and sustainability initiatives. The interactive map feature received positive feedback from users, facilitating easy access to charging locations. The responsive design ensured a seamless user experience across devices, contributing to increased engagement and longer visit durations. Osprey Charging reported improved brand visibility and increased user inquiries following the launch of the website.

Throughout the project, several valuable lessons were learned, including the importance of clear communication and collaboration between stakeholders, the significance of performance optimisation for a seamless user experience, and the benefits of utilising modern frameworks and CMS platforms to streamline development and content management processes.

The design and development of Osprey Charging’s website using Prismic and VueJS successfully achieved the objectives of creating a visually captivating and user-friendly platform. The website effectively communicated Osprey Charging’s role in the electrification of transport and provided a seamless browsing experience for users.
