  • Brunt Ice Shelf, a large iceberg approaching the size of Greater London, has broken away from the Antarctic, close to Britain's Halley research station.

    The berg has been measured to cover 1,270 sq km - nearly 490 square miles. Halley is positioned just over 20km from the line of rupture.

  • Emasesa, the municipal water company in Seville, will use 35 tonnes of orange to generate clean energy to run one of the city’s water purification plants. The fruit will go into an existing facility that already generates electricity from organic matter. As the oranges ferment, the methane captured will be used to drive the generator.
